When I go have brunch with the girls, I
like to look my best, yet casual. But it seems like a lot of woman have brunch
with their friends while they are at work. So from top to bottom are pics from
dressy to casual Saturday/Sunday brunch wear.
NOTE: If you like what you see, but the skirt is too short, the top is too low cut, then simply find pieces you would wear. I do like the idea of the girl with short skirt featured in this post, however, I would wear a longer skirt, one that comes just past my knees when I'm sitting.
A blog about the beauty of being a woman, fashion, makeup, wonderful wine, food and my love for jazz music.

Boating Attire Chic
Mid-Summer Chic Style Part 1
Summer is well under way to say the
least. So to help you keep cool both visually and temp wise, here are some
ideas just for that to get you through the rest of the summer months until fall
arrives.
InStyle August 2014
So its almost the at time of year again
to be thinking about fall clothes…at the very least, along with cooler days,
chilly nights and warm lattes, but until then check out this issue of
InStyle!!!!
On page 24 on You Called the Shots at
Cannes! I really agree with the 39% who voted for Jennifer Lawrence’s dress. I
like it, but I like her hair even better!
Inspired by InStyle on page 44, I’m in
spired to try a jump suit, a midiskirt and a white flippy skirt. All very
summery!
On page 56 Roland Mouret creates a line
for Banana Republic that comes out August 7. It’s a 27-piece collection that’s
$165 at most. The dresses that are featured are $140 each. I like the black and
white color block one the best.
On page 62 model Coco Rocha sports a bob
alas Katie Holmes’s bob she sported back in 2007. Love that style!
Cate Blanchett is classy in a Ralph
Lauren Collection dress on page 73 in The Look. She’s truly a vision!!! I like
the yellow Gucci suit Camilla Belle is wearing on page 74. I like the floral
print dress Emmy Rossum is wearing by 3.1 Phillip Lim and I like Lupita Nyong’o’s
(Oscar de la Renta) and Jamie Chung’s (Banana Republic Marimekko Collection) dresses.
On page 80 & 81 is Taylor Swift’s 10
Best Ever. I like outfit 7 and 4 the best.
All About. . . Dries Van Noten on page
83-86 gives us a preview of what’s to come for fall.
Look Smart on page 97 is about designers
who are making “athleisure” yoga and sweat pants to wear past the gym, but how
far should they go? Personally I don’t do yoga nor wear sweat pants and I
wouldn’t wear either one.
In Your Look on page 103 is slit skirts.
I don’t mind a short slit in the back, but up to the thigh and then some I say
no.
I like Instant Style this month on page
107-114. Wear Now, Wear Later, giving ideas on wearing a pastel coat now and on
into fall to wide leg trousers.
Candy Apple Red is the color of choice
for Color Crash Course on page 128 & 129. I would start small with a shoe
or necklace.
What Your Denim Says About You on page
131-138 is nice. There’s the cooler prepster to the neo-rocker. I like the 3x1
jacket on page 138.
Blake Lively, January Jones, Janelle
Monae rock the latest in hair, the twist on page 147. Its nice for a wedding or
any other occasion, just about.
Find out the 10 Ways to Sunproof Yourself
on page 149 & 150.
The latest face for Bobbi Brown, Kate
Upton is in Beauty Talk on page 153. Surprisingly Kate wasn’t always curvy! Who
knew!!!
On page 157 is Summer Hair Rehab to get
your hair back in shape after all those extra high lights, sea salt and chlorine
at the pool.
You Can Do Minimal Makeup on page 165.
It gets you out the door faster to make those summer memories. . .
Check out the many hair styles Scarlett
Johansson has had over the years on page 182.
I’m loving the shoes in Heart & Sole
on page 193-204. From black n white, snake print, embellished, peekaboo,
colorblock, to space age, fall’s shoes
looks pretty good.
The Best for A Lot Less At. . .GAP is
pretty good. I like their cotton sleeveless top for $40, on page 210.
August cover girl Zooey Deschanel is on
page 217.
Enjoy the issue!!!!!

InStyle July 2014
With summer under way, knowing pretty much what the temps
are going to be, InStyle keeps us stylish this month.
I like page 39 in What’s Now! I like the sparkly top by Sam &
Libby. Great for summer parties and under jackets in the fall and winter.
On page 40 is fun to see the different styles of sunglasses
over the years. I like the aviators from the 1930s the best.
Prada makes its personal on page 42. You can custom make you
own shoes, well have them custom made for you by Prada. Visit www.prada.com for more info and details. I’m in
love with the purple ones that are featured.
Best Dress is Shailene Woodley in The Look on page 51 and I
couldn’t agree more with them. She keeps it classy and tasteful.
Singer Kelly Rowland has a beautiful collection of both fine
and costume jewelry on page 62. I love her a hair and makeup on the opening
page.
On page 71-72 find your perfect Espadrilles. I like the
spotted ones by Tory Burch as well as the cotton stripped ones by H&M.
I love the scalped tank by Ann Taylor on page 75 in Instant
Style. The tanks come in black and winter white. I like the silk shorts on page 78, crop top
and skirt on page 82. Oh so summery chic.
In You Can Do on page 85, is all about cutouts. I personally
don’t care too much for cutouts in my clothes, unless it was just at the right
place, like around the neckline.
Color Crash Course is in Sand on pages 91 & 91. I actually
like it. I could see myself wearing the
cotton-polyester top by Ella Moss, www.ellamoss.com,
with capris in the same hue. I like the shorts by Candela, but I’m not really a
shorts kind of woman, but I like the way they look though.
Page 104 is Kicking It...all about tennis shoes. Great for those who want a casual style, yet comfy foot wear.
And skipping to the cover girl, the article about Kate Hudson is wonderful!!!
Check it out because the August issue comes out Friday!

July 2014
Awww....Chicago in July is what comes to mind
whenever I think of July... But I can't believe its July though already!!! This
year has gone by so fast, yet I feel like I haven't accomplished enough yet,
thankfully I still have time! It’s not like its December 30th!
So I've started this
month off right by going to the gym. It's time to show those extra lbs whose
boss. Plus it feels good to get fit for what's left of summer on into fall.
It's July and it's time to make some changes and I'm doing something my further
self will thank me for. I really want to drop at least 2 dress sizes by the end
of summer and at least one more by my 33rd birth day at the end of
October. I will keep you updated on how I’m doing.
Do something that your future self will thank you for
and I hope July is a good month for everyone!!!
